Working of transformer-

OK condition of transformer-

We check the transformer by setting the multimeter on the Continuity point. If the two front pins of the transformer give a beep sound from both sides, then the transformer is OK.

Faulty condition of transformer-

We check the transformer by setting the multimeter on the Continuity point. If nothing sleeps from either side of the two opposite pins of the transformer, then it is open (bad).
